Other than enrichment courses and programmes, we also offer the following:
School Integrated Programme (SIP)
The SIP aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Integrates skills and knowledge learnt from the various subject areas.
- Offers an opportunity to expand on the IT skills of the Anthonians and to introduce digital art to them. As the creative industry (Digital Art/Gaming) is a new focus for our economy, it is only apt for the school to provide for our Anthonians an introduction to this realm for their future aspirations.
- Provides a platform to promote I&E projects for the various levels
- Consciously infuses the teaching of NE and values through the different projects.
P3 to P6 Orchid Enrichment Programme
A 3-year programme, this was started in 2005 and is a collaborative effort between the school and Orchidville. This programme serves to nurture our Anthonians’ interest in nature and aptitude in Life Sciences.
Merck “Champions of the Environment”
The award-winning project is entitled “Environmental Awareness Through Care and Protection”. The school was awarded $15,000 as the Grand Prize. This programme has resulted in a good partnership between the school, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Singapore Ltd and National Environmental Agency. Our colleagues have been on learning journeys to MSD Singapore and their staff members are using our school facilities on Saturdays for badminton sessions. MSD was officially recognised as the Industry Partner of our school during the Clean and Green Week 2006 and there are plans for them and the school, through the NEA, to collaborate over the next 3 years
REAP (REAding Programmes)
In addition to having reading programmes involving our Parent Support Group (PSG) volunteers for P1 & 2 for all languages, the following have been introduced:
- Buddy Reading Programme, EL (P1 to 4) – A programme in which better readers assist weak and reluctant readers in reading and language acquisition. They meet twice a week outside curriculum time for a reading session and occasionally listen to a story read by their buddy.
- Reading Intervention Programme, EL (P3 to 5) – targeted at P3 to P5 non-readers, pupils meet 2-3 times per week, each session lasting for an hour. Station based learning is carried out. Phonics, reading games and teacher-assisted reading are some of the activities carried out by the Adjunct teacher.
Learning Hubs
To provide a conducive learning environment for our Anthonians outside the classroom, the following learning hubs have been set up to enrich the quality of school experience for the pupils:
1) Aesthetics Hub – An outdoor music/art classroom
2) Science Hub – Housing 2 science gardens, a science learning corridor, an outdoor classroom, a plant-tissue laboratory, a rain forest corner and a solar-powered rotating wheel in the koi pond. The Science Hub also has an automated watering system for plants, courtesy of Merck.
3) Library Hub – A “makeover” with a farm theme
4) Robotics Hub – Although just introduced as a CCA in 2005, they have done well and the Hub was initiated using cluster funds.
New Hubs to be set up this year are: Health Education, Mathematics and Cyber Hubs.

SHARP (Sports, Healthy lifestyle And Ruggedness Programme)
To enhance the ruggedness and to introduce a healthy lifestyle for our Anthonians, we have the following special programmes under SHARP (Sports, Healthy lifestyle And Ruggedness Programme)
1 Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) Programme
The PE dept collaborated with the SBA since 2005 for this special programme which aims to provide the fundamental skills of Badminton to the Anthonians. It incorporates a modified approach to make it fun and yet is focused on technical skills. This is a 3-year programme from P1 to P3 and thereafter, promising players will be asked to join our school team.
2 Swimming Programme for P3 Anthonians
Introduced in 2005, the swimming programme is part of the school’s PE curriculum and is aimed at providing basic swimming skills to Anthonians as part of the holistic education framework adopted by the school. As the school does not have a school field, this programme was initiated to overcome the shortage of space in the school for PE lessons when the school adopted the 4-2 partial single session in 2005.
3 “Step With It” programme for P3 to P6
This programme ties in with the PE and Health Education departments’ focus of inculcating a healthy lifestyle. The school collaborates with Coca-Cola, the main sponsor. Log cards are provided whereby students monitor their own participation of Physical Activities, Health & Nutrition and Character Building modules. This is now the Health Education project for P3, 4 and 5 students.
4 Primary 4 Adventure Camp
An annual one-day school camp organised as a post-exam activity for the P4 Anthonians. The aim of the camp is to expose them to outdoor activities involving physical courses to develop team spirit and ruggedness in character. This camp is also a prelude to the P5 SparkC camp.
5 Primary 5 SparkC Camp
Introduced in 2002, the PE dept has collaborated with OBS to provide a 3D/2N Discovery camp for P5 Anthonians held at the SparkC camp site at East Coast Park. The main objective of this camp is to instil the “can do” attitude in Anthonians so as to increase their self-confidence in relation to facing challenges and building friendships and trust.

CARE (Character-building And Responsibility for Everyone)
To strengthen the character-building foundation of our Anthonians, we have the following special programmes under CARE (Character-building And Responsibility for Everyone)
1 Care Quest Tokens and Badges
These tokens and badges are given to Anthonians by teachers to recognise them for their good deeds or good behaviour. The Care Quest monitor will collate the number of tokens awarded for his/her own class. The class with the most number of tokens will be awarded the Care Quest prize. On the individual level, Care Quest Badges are coloured collar badges which are given out to individual Anthonians in recognition of their model behaviour in class for each semester.
2 Leadership
In addition to the usual leadership training sessions for our school leaders, we have the following:
(i) Camp La Salle – a leadership camp organised by the Lasalle schools to instil in student leaders the Lasallian spirit of faith, zeal and service.
(ii) Leadership Programme and Leadership Service Programme in May/June – this camp provides an avenue for the participants at Camp La Salle to cascade what they have learnt and experienced to others.
3 Golden Rules
In addition to our school values, these 5 Golden Rules were introduced to help in the character development of our Anthonians. They are:
1. Always be polite and greet each other.
2. One person talks at a time.
3. Always be honest.
4. Respect others and their property.
5. Care for each other as brothers and sisters
4 Project GOOD (Gift Of One Dollar)
Introduced in 2006, this project coincides with the season of Lent for Catholics (a period of prayer, penance and charity). Anthonians are encouraged to donate a dollar a week and funds raised are donated to the Catholic Welfare Society.
5 Anthonian Recognition Days
2 days per week (Tuesdays and Fridays) are set aside to celebrate the achievements of our Anthonians and also to highlight Anthonians who have displayed our school values during the morning and afternoon assemblies.
6 Project Gawad Kalinga
Introduced this year as a Lasallian project involving all 7 Lasalle schools. The 7 schools raised 1 million pesos ($32,000) for Gawad Kalinga (meaning “To Give Care”), a non-profit organization in the Philippines. The Lasalle schools have adopted the town of Baseco, which is located on the outskirts of Manila. The cheque was presented to them on behalf of the Lasalle schools by President S R Nathan during his visit there on 14 Feb 2006. The money raised will go towards helping 250 needy children to have decent food and education. St. Anthony’s Primary is now working with them to have this project go beyond fund-raising. Our Anthonians will be writing to their counterparts in Baseco as post-exam activities as this is an excellent learning opportunity for all parties involved.
