PROGRAMMES

BUDDY READING (P3/4)

A scheme or programme in which better readers assist weak and reluctant readers in reading and language acquisition. It involves a pair- a tutor and a tutee, meeting for regular reading sessions, outside curriculum time.

This particular programme involves reading as well as listening. They meet at least thrice a week for a reading session and occasionally   listen to a story read by their buddy.

Objectives

1.                   To introduce readers to the joys of literature & hook them to books – hopefully for a lifetime

2.                   To enlarge the tutee’s vocabulary and also to enable him to use the words he

             has learnt.

3.         To build up a store of background information essential for reading comprehension.

4.                   To develop a good and strong rapport between the tutor and the tutee.
